David R. Benthien, 70, of Stillman Valley, IL passed away peacefully after an extended illness on September 27, 2020 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1950 in Rockford, IL to Robert and Elizabeth (Rew) Benthien. He married his loving wife, Vicki Peters, on July 30, 1976 at Forest City Baptist Church. David owned Benthien Construction, Inc. and was a general contractor for a number of years. David served his country in the United States National Guard. He found his spiritual home at City First and was a faithful member for many years. David loved fishing, woodworking, bee keeping, and quilting. He will always be remembered for his big heart and his love of helping those around him. David will be truly missed by his friends and family.
David will be dearly missed by his wife, Vicki; his mom, Elizabeth; his stepsons, Todd (Diane) Schwebke and Brett (Lynsie) Schwebke; his brother, Tom (Laura) Benthien; his grandchildren, Kerstin, Evan, Ben, and Max; and his lifelong friends, Greg (Juanita), Brian (Bev), Greg (Julie), Milt (Peggy), PJ (Sharon), and John Lewandowski.
He was preceded in death by his father and his sister, Kathy Cummins.
The walk-through visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL, 61008.
