Helen grew up in Nashwauk and graduated from Nashwauk High School. She then attended the University of Minnesota, where she met Gerald Oswald. The two moved to Moose Lake in 1963 and were married on October 20th, 1962 in Hope Lutheran Church. Helen's full time job was a stay at home mother to her three children, Cindy, Steve, and Ronald. For many years, Helen was a hockey mom. She golfed on the Moose Lake Women's Golf League and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. Her favorite pastimes were golfing and playing cards. Helen was a stubborn Finn through and through, but she was also kind and understanding. She was a good listener and was famous for giving good advice to anyone who needed it. Helen was also very intelligent and had a passion for food. Her ways will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald; parents, Ray and Grace (Moilanen) Roos; brother, Ronnie Roos; and numerous aunts and uncles whom played a special role in Helen's life.
Helen is survived by her children, Cindy, Steve (Heidi), and Ron Oswald; grandchildren, Cassondra, Kelsey, and Allison Leverty and Alexis, Anakin, Aila, Tynan, and Henna Oswald; great-grandson, Gino Leverty; and many other relatives and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2020 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral home from 5-7pm with a short service at 7pm.
