John Weldon "Stubby" Stubblefield 72, of Madill, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Madill Hospital.

He was born on February 12, 1948 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late John William Stubblefield and Jewell Mae Harrison Stubblefield.

Stubby was raised in Oklahoma City and graduated from U. S. Grant High School. He joined the United States Navy and served for a short time due to a medical discharge. Stubby married Betty Louise Garmon on January 29, 1968 in El Reno, Oklahoma and she preceded him in death on May 14, 2005. He worked as a tool and die marker in Oklahoma City. In 1994 Stubby moved to Madill where he worked as a camp host at Catfish Bay. In 2001 he became a Reserve Deputy for the Marshall County Sheriff Office and worked under Sheriff Bob Wilder, Sheriff Ed Kent and Sheriff Danny Cryer. Stubby was a member of the Little City Baptist Church. He loved to square dance and was a member of the Southern Circle Square Dance Club. Stubby also enjoyed going to the Blue Grass Festival with friends Kay and Gilbert.

He is survived by:
Daughter: Weldonna Louise Johnson and husband Johnson, Lindsay, Oklahoma
Grandchildren: Megan Bean Henry, Cruz Walker, Cody Johnson,
Great Grandchildren: Zachariah Lane Henry,
Sister: Joyce Wood, El Reno, Oklahoma
Bessie Darlene Little and husband Jim, Asher, Oklahoma
Nieces: Darlene Ames, Tammy Mader, Tammy Wood, Tianna Schmidt
Nephews: Keith Ames, Tarryl and Darryl Ames and Duane and Chris Wood

Stubby was preceded in death by his parents, wife and 1 sister: Polly Marie Ames.

Memorials may be made to the Little City Baptist Church in Little City, Oklahoma

Visitation will be Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Ok from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.

Service will be Friday, October 2, 2020 at 2:00 pm at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma. Cecil Mackey will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
