Gary Lee Pelton Sr., 74, of Ashland, passed away at his residence, Thursday August 20, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones.
Gary was born in Medina, Ohio May 18, 1946 to the late Warren and Mildred (Horton) Pelton. He attended Mapleton High School.
On February 8, 1965 Gary married Pamela Gallatin and the couple enjoyed 55 years of marriage.
After their marriage they moved to Elyria, Ohio where Gary worked for a roofing company for 6 years. The couple then returned to Ashland County to reside and Gary started his own business, Pelton Roofing, in 1971. Gary has enjoyed meeting and serving his customers in the area for all those years. His work was his livelihood.
He was a former member of the Ashland Masonic Temple and Sottish Rite of Columbus, Ashland Eagles, Elks and Nankin Federated Church.
Gary was a loving family man and a wonderful husband and father to his four children. He enjoyed working in his garden, was very tech savvy and loved being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Pelton of Ashland; Sons, Gary Jr. (Amy); Shannon (Laurie) both of Ashland; Corey (Carman) of Irvine California and Niki (Ben) Stamm of Columbus; six grandchildren who call him Papa; Austin (Jenna) Barnthouse, Jordan (Brittney) Pelton, Alexandra (Landon) Hamilton, Abigail (Stephen) Bahr, Spencer Pelton and Sierra Pelton; six great grandchildren who call him Papa Big; Madelynn, Brice, Jon, Colton, Paul and Addi; a step brother, Allen (Shirley) Fowler of Ashland and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janet Smith and brothers, Richard Pelton, Dale Pelton who died in infancy and Leonard Marsh.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ashland Cemetery with the Reverend Donald Earlenbaugh officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family by visiting denbowfh.com
