Funeral services for John Thomas Hebert will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in the Pisgah Baptist Church in Forest Hill with his son, Reverend Roland Hebert, his nephew, Reverend John Hebert and Reverend Mike Schultz officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Roberts Cemetery in Forest Hill under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Mr. John, 93, of Forest Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26th at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born July 29th, 1927 on Chickamaw, Lecompte, Louisiana to the union of Frank and Georgia Hearn Hebert.

As a youth, he attended Cedar Grove Baptist and was baptized in Bayou Beouf. In 1949, John married Anne Leah Bourgeois. When the Hebert family moved to the “Piney Woods” he became a member of Pisgah Baptist Church where on his death, he was the longest continuous member of Pisgah.

He began his adult life as a farmer/cattleman. In 1978, he and Dale bought and started Hebert and Son Trucking, Inc. until his retirement in 1995. Post retirement, he enjoyed his life with Anne until her death in 2004. Then he could be seen “keeping watch” over South Rapides Parish. He would visit his friends and family and as always working his cattle. He would also, travel to all football games his grandsons played.
Upon his oldest brother’s death in Bastogne Belgium at the age of 17, he joined the Marine Corp and 76 years later he died a Marine.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Georgia, the love of his life, Anne Leah and their first-born son, John Howard; four brothers, Howard, Bill, Ed and Aubrey; and his sister, Clara.

Those left to cherish the memories of our “Papa”, our “Honey” are Dale (Sylvia), Margaret Anne and Roland “Pop” (Melanie); nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Huey; two sisters-in-laws, Caryl and Doris; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family expresses a special thank you to his dedicated caretakers Carolyn Stanley, Helen Mason and Melissa Berry whose love and devotion provided peace and comfort. Also thank you to Heart of Hospice.
Memorials can be given to Pisgah Baptist Church or Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe.
