Shirley moved to Albany California where she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Walter. After their marriage in March of 1946 they traveled to Pinole where they raised their two children, Steven and Christine. After retiring, Shirley and Walter moved to the California foothills to be near the family. Shirley worked locally at the National Hotel in Jackson, CA, where she was known as the singing book keeper. Her passion for singing and dancing led her to public performances and hosting ballroom dancing on cruise ships. She was an avid bowler and actively supported local organizations like the Sierra Belles and Tops. Shirley eventually moved to Volcano where she spent the last 13 years of her life with family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Chris Looney (Dave), of Volcano, CA; grandchildren, Bryan Looney (Ami), Melanie Price (Zach), Erin Caldwell (Brian); great grandchildren, Zoey Price, Miller Luevano, and Jersie Luevano. She was preceded by her husband, Walter H. Harper; and son, Steve Harper.
A visitation was held Tues., September 29, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Daneri Mortuary followed by a graveside service at 1:00 PM at Sunset View Cemetery, Garden of Golden Memories in Jackson, CA.
