Ray E. Thornton, 91, of Port Huron Township, died Friday, February 17, 2017.

He was born January 26, 1926 in Port Huron to the late Corliss and Edna Thornton. He married Doris J. Nicholson on May 10, 1947 in Port Huron. She died in 2007.

Mr. Thornton served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Grand Trunk Western Railroad, Stephenson Electric and retired from Armada Products. He was a member of Hillside Wesleyan Church and attended Blue Water Free Methodist Church.

He is survived by his three daughters, Janet Aldrich, Carolyn (Edward) Robertson and Linda K. (Loy) Wood; 5 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kenneth Aldrich; and his sister, Alice Pringle.
