He was born November 16th, 1930 to Carl & Eva (Collins) Johnson at Cameron where he was raised & attended school. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 as a Tank Commander in Korea. On September 4th, 1954, he was married to Ione Gehler in Cameron. Harris worked in the construction trades all of his life. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron, the Pieper-Marsh American Legion Post in Cameron & the Barron VFW. He loved his community & was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Harris was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Ione on January 18th, 2001 & his half-brother: Milton Johnson. He is survived by his daughters: Deborah Johnson (Paul Zwanziger) of Cedar Rapids, IA, Sherri (Bruce) Hepburn of Robins, IA & LeAnn (Ken) Spuda of Lodi, WI, son: Dan Johnson (Donna Collins) of Colfax, grandchildren: Nicole & Derek Hepburn, Brad Zwanziger, Zachary Strangeway, Kalyn Lewis, Dani Zwanziger, Abby Crotteau & Alisha Spuda, great-grandchildren: Landon Zwanziger, Luna & Brooke Hepburn, Oliver Lewis, Maci Crotteau & a baby boy on the way, as well as many other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2nd at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Mark Schwinn officiating & interment with Military Honors following at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron.
