Thomas E. Lucas Jr., 48, of Clarks Green, died Sunday at home surrounded by his family.

Thomas was born in Buffalo, N.Y., to Thomas E. Lucas Sr. and Cathleen Finch Lucas. He was a graduate of Kenmore East High School, Boston University and University of Pittsburgh School of Law. He was an attorney at and partner at the law offices of O'Malley & Langan P.C., Scranton.

Thomas moved to northeastern Pennsylvania in 1996 and began his legal career with O'Malley & Langan, where he dedicated the remainder of his life to helping advocate for the injured and disabled. In addition to his career, he was a proud supporter of his children, not just as a fantastic role model but also as an enthusiastic spectator, fan and coach. He had a love of ice hockey and served as youth hockey coach for Scranton Area Lightning Ice Hockey from 2003 through 2012. He also spent many years playing in a local adult hockey league where he developed many cherished and lasting friendships. His favorite place to spend his time, other than with his family, was Glen Oak County Club, where he served in many different roles including his proudest accomplishment, captain of the reigning Ryder Cup championship team! He also served as golf chairman and most recently, vice president of the board of directors. The friendships and bonds he established throughout his life were evident in the outpouring of love and support that was shown to him and his family in recent months.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Anne; and his three children, Maddie, Katie and Robby.

Also surviving are his father, Thomas E. Lucas Sr.; his mother, Cathleen Finch Lucas; his sisters, Amy and Nicole; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at the Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Road, Clarks Green. All are invited to attend the interment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow, on Thursday at approximately 11:30 a.m.
