Former Terry Matron Dies In Miles City
------Word was received Monday of the death of Mrs Blanche L Neff of Miles City, at her home there early Sunday morning, following a long lingering illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Graves chapel in Miles City, with Rev Martin E Van De Mark of the M E Church officiating.
Mrs Neff was the wife of EJ Neff, formerly a meat market proprietor in Terry, and she
well known here. She came here from Baker about seven years ago and purchased a millinery shop from Mrs Roy McFarland and was in business here about a year and here is where she met Mr Neff and married him.
The Miles City Star says of her death:
Her death came asa shock to the host of friends of the Neff family. She was 58 years of age and is survived by her husband and children. A sister is present in the city and her daughter is here from near Baker to attend the last rites. Other relatives and friends are in the city also who will remain over for the services on Tuesday.
Seventeen years after her arrival in MT, on April 8, 1927, Mrs Neff was married to Elmer J Neff, prominently identified with the business circles of Terry and Miles City.
Other sisters besides Mrs Elizabeth Young of Baker, and Mrs Minnie Lawrence of Pocatello ID, surviving are Mrs Shires of LA; Mrs Annie Kinney of Minneapolis and Mrs Martha Higgins of Adel IA. The pallbearers were Al Dundas, Harvey Grover, HT Brown, GT Williams, WH Timberman and RD Cleveland.
Mrs Neff was held in high esteem and exerted a wonderful influence upon all with who she came in contact. The sympathy and condolences of the many friends of the Neff family is extended to surviving members of the family with the hope that it will in a measure help to assuage the grief, experienced over the passing of wife and mother.
Mrs Neff was born on April 29, 1874, at Alma City MN. She was a daughter of a pioneer family which migrated to the west many years ago. She came to MT in 1910 and proved up on a homestead located north of Baker. During the course of her residence in the state Mrs Neff taught school, and for a number of years was matron at the Masonic Home located at Helena.
