She attended the public schools of Colleton County in the Ashepoo section of Colleton County near Green Pond, SC.
She She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Raymond P. Taylor, Sr., to this union six children were born. Mother Taylor was employed by Colleton County School District and later became employed by Fred Parker Funeral Establishment from which she retired. She was known around Walterboro for riding her bicycle to and from work. She rode her bike until the age of 83.
Mother Taylor was also a regular member of the local chapter of the National Council of Negro Women and faithfully gave her support. Her hobbies included, soul-food cooking, fishing and tending her chickens which lead to a bounty of eggs. Mother Taylor joined Rock of Ages C.M.E. Church where she worshipped and served faithfully until her health failed.
Our Mother was a loving Mother to her Children and family and will be sorely missed. Douglas, Shana A. Dezelle, Daniel Dezelle, Jr. (Deidre), Amanda E. Dezelle, Veronica Taylor, Airman 1st class Ramon Taylor, Latesha Taylor, Capt Derek Taylor, Kaila L. Taylor, D'metriece Taylor (Tiffany), Miles Taylor, Ssgt Jerell Taylor (deceased); Her Great Grandchildren: Garvin Douglas, Alanna Douglas, Raimyah Dezelle, Amare' Dezelle, Jerell (Scooter) Taylor, Jehliah Taylor and Cameron Outler; Long-time Sister-in-law: Mrs. Geneva Taylor; a special nephew which she named, Rev. Theodore (Ted) Riggins; and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors. Three brothers predeceased her, Harry Riggins of Walterboro, SC, Bishop Charlie Riggins, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Lewis Riggins of Tacoma, WA.
