Dorothy E. Abella, 83, of Girard, passed away at 5:46 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2020 at the Via Christi Village of Pittsburg, Kansas.
She was born June 17, 1937 in Girard, Kansas a daughter of Aubry “Lighting” and Rhoda Marie (McWilliams) Goshert.
She attended schools in Girard and graduated from the Girard High School. She extended her education with a bachelor’s degree from Pittsburg State University.
On March 15, 1955, Dorothy was united in marriage to Jose Abella in Olathe, Kansas: he survives of the home.
Dorothy was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother; she and Jose were married for 65 wonderful years.
Dorothy was a charter member of the Girard Bible Church. She also volunteered her time and love to various charities as well as sharing her ministry of love with those of the Heritage Nursing Home.
She was an avid reader.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by three sons; Michael Abella and his wife Josie of Hobbs, New Mexico, Mark Abella and his wife Gloria of Midland, Texas, Matthew Abella and his wife Angel of Pittsburg, Kansas; one daughter, Rebecca Knapp and her husband Patrick of Joplin, Missouri; 6 grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Goshert and one sister, Margie Smith.
A celebration of life service will at a later date.
