Harold T. Turner, age 78, of Glenwood, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020.

He was born on November 27, 1941 in Daisy, the son of Thomas Veston Turner and Ruthie Mae Dwyer Turner.

On February 25, 1961, he was married to Joyce O’Neal. He was preceded in death by his parents; his great-granddaughter, Briley Faith Turner; and an infant sister.

He loved God’s word and surrendered to preach in 1964. A pastor for churches in Arkansas, Texas and Indiana, he also served as state missionary for Indiana for two years. He earned a bachelor’s degree and was awarded an honorary master’s degree from Texas Baptist Institute in Henderson, Texas. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching a sunrise or sunset on the lake and speed. He loved any kind of car racing and was said to have a “need for speed.” He was very devoted to his family and friends and loved all of his little ones, the grands and great-grands!

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Turner of Glenwood; four children and their spouses, Jeff and Beverly Turner of Glenwood, Nita and Pat Hughes of Nederland, Texas, Angie Turner of Bryant and Cindy and Joe Spadoni of White Hall; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Loy Turner of Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29, 2020, in the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with his family presenting the services in music and word.

Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Social distancing directives will be in place with no more than 66% of the total seating capacity occupied at the church, avoidance of physical contact and all attendees 10 years of age or older must be wearing a face covering at all times during the service.

Interment will be in Bear Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.

Pallbearers will be Josh Turner, Patrick Hughes, Ben Smith, Stephen Hughes, Ben Parks, Joey Spadoni, Michael Spadoni and Zachary Spadoni.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kristen Smith, Alyssa Parks, Zoey Turner, Virginia Poma and Katelyn Craig.
