Memorial Services for Jim Farley 82, of Farmerville Louisiana will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Rubin Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the service begins.
Jim was born on January 3, 1938 in Farmerville. He graduated from Farmerville High School and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, graduating with a B.S degree in Geology and Math. He served in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1968.
Professionally, Jim was employed by Murphy Corporation. Later he became a quality control engineer with Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company and rose to position of plant manager at the Pirelli/Armstrong manufacturing facility in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Jim was an avid bass fisherman. He won the Louisiana State Bass Championship in 1970. He was the founder of the Miss-Lou Bassmasters club in Natchez, Mississippi. He loved instructing novice fishermen and took great joy in watching them catch fish.
Jim passed away at his home in Farmerville on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. Farley and Ollie Joiner Farley; two brothers, Jess Herman Farley and Henry Don Farley; two sisters Maudine Farley and Joyce Peters. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Betty Carroll Farley, two daughters, Teresa Farley and Cindy Farley Dycus, one step daughter, Pam Ruzek, one sister Carolyn Farley Kelley and husband Dr. John Kelley, seven grandchildren, Devin Davis, Ian Davis, Spencer Dycus, Savannah Dycus, Jared Holland, Brian Holland, Blake Holland, and one great-grandchild Hunter Davis.
