Mrs. Bess, 64, Liberty Twp. Native, Dies
Funeral services for Mrs. Mamie E. Bess, who died Monday afternoon at the Henry County Hospital after an illness of two months, will be held Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Chicago Corner Church. Rev. Herbert Swearinger and Rev. Victor McAnallen will officiate and burial will be in the Chicago Corner Cemetery.
Mrs. Bess, who was 64 years old, was born in Liberty Twp. and had lived most of her life in the Chicago Corner and New Lisbon communities. She had lived in Hagerstown for the past two years. She was a member of the Chicago Corner Church.
Survivors are the husband, Walter, of Hagerstown; one son, Harold Wantz of New Castle; three daughters: Mrs. Lorraine Paul of Charlottesville, Mrs. Lillian Gordon of New Castle and Mrs. Annabelle Newton of Hobart; two step-sons: Cecil Bess of New Castle and Carl Bess of Muncie; one step-daughter, Mrs. Lucille Smith of Sunland, CA; one sister, Mrs. Emory Wantz of New Castle; three brothers: Orlo, Wilburt and Ed Pierce, all of Henry Co.; and sixteen grandchildren.

Friends of Mrs. Mamie Bess, who died Monday afternoon at the Henry County Hospital, may call at the Main and Sons Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Bess will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Chicago Corner Church. Burial will be in the Chicago Corner Cemetery.
