Arthur Wallace Patterson Jr., 81, of 110 Shelton Ave., Alexandria, Porter Township, died at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2020, at his residence.

Born May 14, 1939, in Philipsburg, Centre County, he was a son of the late Arthur Wallace Sr. and Mabel (Dixon) Patterson. He was united in marriage to the former Shirley L. Gorman Oct. 27, 1959, in the Petersburg Lutheran Church. Mrs. Patterson survives at their residence.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Patterson is survived by three children, Arthur Patterson, Timothy Patterson and Jean Patterson and wife, Wendy Dick, all of Alexandria; a granddaughter, Nicole Baney and husband, Jared, Tipton; two stepgrandsons, Daniel Baney of Alexandria and Ryan Baney of Pittsburgh; and a great-granddaughter, Paige Alexa Baney.

He is also survived by five siblings, Ken Patterson and wife, Jean, and Kerm Patterson and wife, Laura, all of Alexandria, William “Butch” Patterson, Huntingdon, and Joseph Patterson and wife, Donna, and Helen Morningstar, all of Mill Creek; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Patterson of Huntingdon.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Frank and Russell Patterson, and three siblings, Norma Ormsby, Betty Wilson and Richard Patterson.

Mr. Patterson honorably served with the United States Army.

He was a life member of the William P. Spyker American Legion Post 520, Alexandria, the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Co. and the Petersburg Catering Club. In his earlier years, Mr. Patterson was a very dedicated firefighter and was very involved in helping the ladies’ auxiliary with their banquets when needed. He served as fire chief of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Co. for 11 years.

Mr. Patterson graduated from Juniata Valley High School.

He retired after working for 32 years as a laborer for ACCO Brands, formerly Mead WestVaco.

Mr. Patterson enjoyed hunting, fishing and feeding the stray cats in the neighborhood. He was a lifetime resident of Huntingdon County and had lived at his current residence since 2009.

Interment in Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark.

It is requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Patterson to the Salvation Army Food Bank, 2514 Shadyside Ave., Huntingdon, PA 16652, or to the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 378, Alexandria, PA 16611.
