ATKINS, VIRGINIA: MICHAEL T. PURKEY, age 48, died Tuesday, October 04, 2005 in Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Radford, Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Trent Purkey of Atkins, Virginia. One daughter, Pia Childers of Barnwell, South Carolina. One grandson who he raised like a son, Bryan Michael Wade of Atkins, Virginia. His parents, Billy Ray and Sylvia Horne Purkey of Marion, Virginia. One sister and brother-in-law, Terese and James Flemming of Monroe, North Carolina. His grandmother, Loetta Horne of Chilhowie, Virginia. One niece, Kristen Flemming and one nephew, Jarrod Flemming also survive. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Charles Walker, Rev. Mike Teague, and Rev. Dick Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
