G.C. “Junior” Boysen, Jr., age 94, of Battle Creek, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2020, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Neil Wehmas and Rev. Richard Salcido will officiate. Committal will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa, with Military Rites conducted by the McNamara Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2020, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply. The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

G.C. “Junior” Boysen, Jr., the son of Agnes (Schmidt) and Gustav H. Boysen, Sr. was born on January 12, 1926, in Ida Grove, Iowa. Junior was raised in rural Ida Grove on the farm. He attended country school until the 8th grade and then was engaged in farming with his father. Junior proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII while stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Ida Grove and continued farming.

On February 28, 1951, Junior was united in marriage to Emma Jean Deppe in Ida Grove. The couple were blessed with three children: Larry, Theresa and Gail. Junior was engaged in crop and livestock farming all of his life. During his retirement Junior helped his neighbor, Al Schreiber, as a farmhand. He remained on the farm until the later years of his life when he became a resident of Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek, Iowa.

Junior enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and his horses. Family was his greatest joy. He treasured any time spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory include his children Larry (Lori) Boysen, Sr. of Battle Creek, IA, Theresa (Richard) Riessen of Battle Creek, IA and Gail (Christine) Boysen of Ida Grove, IA; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Gustav Boysen, Sr.; wife Emma Jean Boysen; brothers Robert (Darlene) Boysen and Vertis (Ruth) Boysen; and sister Rose A Rie Boysen.
