  Joseph Melvin (Barney) Jones, 76, died June 28, 1978 at a local hospital.
  Born November 14, 1901 at Mammoth, Utah, to William Vernon and Caroline Tippetts Jones. Married Rose Afton, May 12, 1926 in the Salt Lake Temple. Divorced in 1937. Married Edith Alvina Hedman, March 18, 1939 at Salt Lake City. She died October 23, 1970.
  Survivors: son, David, daughters, Loretta Jones and Linda Rose, all of Salt Lake City; two grandchildren; brothers, Blaine, Heyburn, Idaho; Grant, Page, Arizona; and William (Buck), Midvale, Utah; sister, Mrs. Louis (Etta) Holdsworth, Lehi, Utah.
  Graveside services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 South State Street. Friends may call at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South, Friday, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. and at Deseret Mortuary at Lake Hills, Saturday, one hour prior to services.
