Obituary for Charles Richard Bartlett

Charles Richard Bartlett was born on May 1, 1931, to Richard H. Bartlett and Francis Delilah Yelton in Salmon, Idaho. At the age of around six years old he drank water from a stream in Salmon and contact typhoid fever. The high temperature from this illness caused him to receive brain damage and altered his mortal life.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Francis D. Bartlett, his father, Richard H. Bartlett, his grandmother, Nancy Jane Campbell, a sister, Donna May Bartlett (Torney), Donald R. Bartlett, and Eugene Goodell (Hank).

After the death of his mother and father, Charles lived with his grandmother Nancy in Salmon.

Shortly thereafter he came to live with his sister, Donna Torney in Anaconda. Donna raised Charles for the next 50 years in Anaconda. He called her mom because in his eyes, she was. Charles lived with ten nieces and nephews and was dearly loved by all of them. They looked to Charles as their newfound brother, not so much as an uncle. He was everyone’s favorite uncle. He was always kind to everyone and made friends easily in spite of his handicap caused by the typhoid fever.

Charles worked at the A.W.A.R.E. program in Anaconda. This job gave him a sense of belonging and he was proud to be a part of this great organization. One of his proudest days at A.W.A.R.E. was when he was chosen Employee of the Month. Charles was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Anaconda. Charles enjoyed passing the Sacrament to member of the church. Everyone knew that Charles had a special place to sit and no one else passing the Sacrament would sit in Charley's seat. He loved passing the Sacrament to members of the Anaconda Ward and was vigilant in carrying out his responsibility passing the Sacrament.

Charles was one of the kindest people you could ever hope to meet. It was like he was continually surrounded by his guardian angels.

Charles fell and broke his hip and it was necessary to place him in the care of the Community Nursing Home of Anaconda, where he quickly made friends and was known as the YAHTZEE KING at the rest home. He didn't want to go to the nursing home at first, but quickly adapted and was thankful to be there. He loved all the patrons and staff there. They were so kind and loving and the care he received was outstanding. Charles was wheelchair bound after breaking his hip. Charles was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. If there is YAHTZEE in heaven, he will be right in the middle of the game.

Charles is survived by his brother, Howard Bartlett and Sister Alice of Wardsville, Missouri.

A Memorial Service was held at Sunset Memorial on Crackerville Road, near Fairmont Hot Springs.
