Walter Earl Freeman, 72, of Peoria passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020 at UnityPoint Health Methodist in Peoria.
He was born June 30, 1948 in Birmingham, AL to Luther and Bessie Mae Thedford Freeman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Irgrid Roddy and son, Marshawn Tolliver Sr.
He married Theresa A. Tolliver January 17, 2020; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Kimberly Roddy, Derrick (Alyssa) Roddy, Glenda Roddy, Orlando Roddy, Patrice Roddy and Jacoby Roddy; seventeen grandchildren; siblings, Evelyn Sanders, Fred Freeman, John Louis (Valerie) Cowans, James Freeman, Lucious Freeman and Reynold (Brenda) Freeman and many nieces and nephews.
Walter worked as the site coordinator for the Dream Center, he loved his job. He would host meetings for those who were previous drug addicts. He loved his family and grandkids. He enjoyed sports, traveling and he loved the Los Angeles Lakers. Walter never met a stranger.
Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church 406 John H Gwynn Jr Ave., Peoria, IL 61605.
The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
