Anna Maria Edwards Russell entered eternal paradise on August 30, 2020 at Mt. Vista Medical Center in Mesa, AZ.

Anna was born on September 21, 1972 to Mary Ann Jackson & Eddie Edwards. She was born and raised on the San Carlos Apache Reservation. During her younger years Anna attended Rice Elementary School and high school at Southwest Indian School in Peoria, AZ. She later returned to San Carlos & received her GED. She had many qualifications and experience she worked as a Domestic Violence Advocate with Mt. Graham Safe House, Customer Service Rep at Apache Gold Casino and for the San Carlos Apache Tribe as a Case Manager and Behavior Health Tech. She also worked for San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation as a Benefit Coordinator. She put her skills and knowledge to use and enjoyed helping her community.

Anna began life at a very young age. She married the love of her life Anthony “Tiggy” Russell and together they have 7 children. Uriah, Andrea, Elijah, Isaiah, and the late Sarah Russell, Joshua Russell & Seth Russell who she has now reunited with. They also have one goddaughter and one godson. She was a believer of GOD, a praying woman who had strong faith. Anna and Tiggy always showed their love and affection toward their kids and made sure their they knew the lord as their savior. She had undivided attention for her kids, they were her world. She also had a passion for helping special needs children and was a mother figure to the younger generation of our family members as she and Tiggy took in many children into their home. She was accepting of everyone that crossed her path.

Anna was a vocal person and because she was outspoken her voice for her family would not go unnoticed including the people she truly cared for. She had many aspects of knowledge, and awareness, or understanding, that the family would always include her in every life event. She was our advocate. She was easy to get along with. Once you knew her that connection was hard to let go. Her attitude was always secure, and made sure that you had everything you needed to reassure you that you are having a great day. She was that shoulder to lean on. She took care of you. Anna enjoyed being around family and friends every chance she got. She was full of life and adventure and could not stay in one area for a long period of time. She liked to see what mother nature had to offer and enjoyed the drives to the mountains or lakes. She enjoyed celebrations and was labeled by the family as an “even coordinator”. She always went above and beyond with planning and directing huge events such as birthday parties, weddings, graduations, dedications & church events. She hardly ever said no if you asked her for help. She would take initiative and lend a helping hand when needed.

Anna will be missed dearly but never forgotten. She will live in the hearts of many who had a relationship with her. Her love, her voice, and her smile are forever imprinted in our minds that will light our way.

Anna is survived by her mother Mary Ann Jackson of San Carlos, AZ, her husband Anthony Russell, her children Uriah, Andrea, Elijah & Isaiah Russell all of San Carlos, AZ, her siblings Frances Pahe, Lorenzo Bush of San Carlos, AZ, Marc Jackson of Phoenix, AZ, Felita Jackson of Globe, AZ. Her goddaughter Amber Lukee of Yuma, AZ her godson Aaron Elgo of San Carlos, AZ. Her father Eddie Edwards Sr. of Bylas, AZ, her brother’s Matthew Edwards & Eddie Edwards Jr. of New Mexico, her sister Madeline Nelson of New Mexico, her sister Michelle Brun of Minnesota. As well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Forever in our hearts our beautiful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, niece and friend.
