BERMUDA RUN, N.C. — Richard L. McBride, a five-year Army veteran of the Korean War, passed away Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at the age of 89, in his home in Bermuda Run, N.C. He resided with his family in Brookfield, Ohio, for many years.

Born in Hubbard on Sept. 29, 1930, he was the son of Gladys R. (Reiser) McBride and Myron D. McBride.

After Richard served his country in the Army 561st Engineer Construction Company in Korea, he finished his engineering education at Youngstown State University.

Upon his retirement from Valley Mould and Iron Co., Hubbard, he resumed his engineering and sales career at T. Bruce Campbell Co., West Middlesex, Pa., where he retired in 2000.

Richard was a master craftsman in wood and art creating many original furnishings for his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Darlene (Mullen) McBride; daughter, Dina Bright of Portland, Ore.; son, David McBride and his wife, Susan (Calvin) McBride and grandson, Riley Richard McBride of Clemmons, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and James Walsh of Hermitage, Pa.; niece, Connie and husband, Shuey Wolfe of Florida.

Richard McBride was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia Radichevich; and brothers, Theodore and Harry McBride.

A memorial service to honor Richard’s life will follow at a later date in North Carolina.
