Dottie was born in Norwich, Connecticut on July 5, 1928, to the late Tommy and Ruth Conlan. She remained proud of her "Yankee" heritage after moving throughout her life as a military wife. Dottie enjoyed telling stories of her experiences and the people that she met when she worked as a bank teller years ago. She was known for her great hospitality, her musical talents, and for playing Mrs. Clause in various settings. While living in New Orleans, she became an avid Saints fan, and remained a fan throughout her life. Dottie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be deeply missed by all.
Dottie is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lee Andrews; daughters, Barbara (Lanney) Avis and Martha Andrews; grandchildren, Graham (Katy) Avis, Benson (Tori) Avis, Abbey Avis and Noah (Katie) Avis; great grandchild, Haddassah "Haddy Cate" Avis; and cousin, Barbara "Bobby" Moxley. She was preceded in death by her second child; and her two great grandchildren, Agape and Theodore.
Visitation will be Friday, September 25th from 10-11 am at Gentry Morrison Serenity Gardens Chapel, 3350 Mall Hill Dr. Lakeland. The service size is limited to close friends and family. Others are encouraged to come to the visitation, and to view the service online which will be available Friday afternoon.
