Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Bob Holloway, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Atwood was born on May 14, 1922, in the Salem Community, to the late James Alex and Dora (Bower) McLaren. She married Jack W. Atwood on Jan. 10, 1942, in Young County, Texas. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2000. Her family started the Salem Church on the family ranch. Mrs. Atwood was the pianist and organist for the church for many years. She is now a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Kum Double Sunday School Class.
Survivors include son, Jackie Keith Atwood of Graham; sisters-in-law, Fay Adell Heck, Betty Ruth Roberts and husband Max, Charlene Kite and husband Odell, all of Graham; nieces, Charis Nees, and Kristi Copeland; nephews, Bobby Hays, Max Roberts III, and Robert Atwood.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church music department.
