He graduated Texas High School in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force, he briefly sold real estate before taking a career at the Texarkana Federal Correctional Institution from which he retired. He was a member of the Masons.
He married Mary F. Ables in Hugo, OK in 1966, they were married 54 years. His interests include fishing, camping, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Wyatt, and his daughter, Vickie Cannon.
