James “Jim” Andrew Akers, Sr. 79, passed away September 21, 2020 in Pennington, Texas. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on December 29, 1940 to William “Bill” Walter Akers, Sr. and Amelia Gertrude Losack Akers. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he retired from Texas Gulf Sulpher Company with over 30 years of service.

Jim is survived by daughter, Rhonda Murgatroyd and husband Allan of Seabrook; son, Jimmy Akers of Caddo Mills; grandchildren, Jonathan Akers and wife Jenifer Moreno of Germany, Joana Akers-Estaban and husband Rodrigo of Boston, MA., Jessica Murgatroyd of Baton Rouge, Emma Murgatroyd of Huntsville, Justin Murgatroyd of Seabrook, and John James Akers of Caddo Mills; Great Grandchild, Lily Akers of Germany; brothers, Eugene Akers and wife Geneva of Beaumont, William “Bill” Walter Akers, Jr. of Benbrook; brother-in-law, Joseph Rizzato of Beaumont; He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Claudene Goodman Akers; parents, William “Bill” Walter Akers, Sr. and Amelia Gertrude Losack Akers; his sisters, Paulina Mary Rizzato, Joyce “Sister Amelia” Agnes Akers; sister-in-law, Martha Akers; and a beloved nephew, Andy Williams.

Serving as Pallbearers will be, Michael Akers, Steven Akers, Chad Williams, Hardy Williams, Homer Williams and Clint Boullion.

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2020, 3 pm at Riley Funeral Home, with Visitation being held before the service from 2 pm until 3 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Allison Cemetery, Warren.
