White, Vernon C. Egelston Twp. Vernon C. White, age 92, of Muskegon, MI passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday September 19, 2020, surrounded by his family. Vern was born in Ravenna, MI, on November 6, 1927, to William and Blanche (Irwin) White. He graduated from Ravenna High School. After graduation, Vern enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in Japan. He retired after 30 years of employment at Shaw-Walker to pursue his many passions. Starting in his teen years and well into his 80's, he was an avid trapper and lifetime member of the Michigan Trappers Association. Vern also enjoyed collecting coins and antiques and was a proud member of the West Michigan Antique Bottle Club. If you ever went to a swap meet in west Michigan looking for milk bottles you probably met him. He was also a devoted Oakridge Eagles football fan, attending every possible game until age 91. Vern is survived by three children: Ruth Hruskach, Christi (Walter) Robinson, and William (Izeta) White; his sister, June Jablonski; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elverna Miller; son-in-law, Lawrence Hruskach; Eleanor White; special friend, Peggy Fuller; his parents; brother, Irwin White; and sister, Doris Nelson. VISITATION with Vern's family will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210. A private Graveside service will be held by family in Moorland Twp. Cemetery. MEMORIALS to the Harbor Hospice Foundation will be appreciated.
