Janice Karen Cottman-Wade, known affectionately as Sweet Pea, heard the call of our Lord and entered her eternal slumber on Monday, September 14, 2020. Janice was born March 26, 1954 in Roanoke, Virginia to the late John Earl Cottman and the late Glenice (Mills) Cottman. She was educated in the Roanoke City Public School system and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1972. She later received her Associates of Applied Science degree in Mental Health from Virginia Western Community College and a Bachelor of Social Work from Radford University.

Janice grew up in the church was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she diligently served in various capacities. It was there she met her soul mate Eric Wade Sr and married him surrounded by family and friends. Most recently Janice and her husband were active members of Garden of Prayer #7, Vision of Faith Ministries. Janice loved her family and happily told everyone she was a housewife, but she always took time to give back to the community. Janice, like her mother, was a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Janice was an avid reader, and loved all things creative including drawing and painting. She had a passion for baking, and won the first baking competition she entered.

Janice was preceded in death by her loving mother Glenice Cottman, her father John Cottman, her Aunt Annie Mills, her father-in-law Elder Samuel A. Wade and two brothers-in-law: Samuel Wade Jr and Christopher Wade.

Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband Eric David Wade Sr (Roanoke), her loyal cousin James Mills Jr (Charlotte, NC), three step-sons Eric David Wade Jr. (Roanoke), Edward Darnell Terry (Osaka, Japan), Eugene Mario Terry (Stone Mountain, Georgia), her mother-in-law Evangelist H. Estelle B. Wade (Roanoke), two sisters-in-law, Zeliou (Bill) Harris (Lynchburg); Yvonne Taylor (Roanoke) and two brothers-in-law, Cody Anderson (Roanoke); Harold (Jewel) Wade (Roanoke); 3 grandchildren, a host of other nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.
