The family of "Mother" Carrie Lee Robinson is honored to produce friends and loved-ones a glimpse into the life of an extraordinary woam of God. A complete biographical account will be available for viewing during the Homegoing Celebration.
In San Francisco, under the leadership of the late Elder William Simms, "Mother Robinson" accepted the call to salvation in 1957 and attended church services regularly. According to her, she enjoyed the instruction and wisdom imparted by the older saints, and their guidance resulted in her strong Biblical foundation and shaping of her Christian walk. She mentioned, "We just did what the old folks said, and we didn't question it; we enjoyed being at their beckoning call!" Her involvement in ministry spanned more than 60 years.
Carrie, determined to remain an integral part of her girls'educational lives, became employed from 1964 until 1966 as a third-grade Teaching Assistant at Kavanaugh Elementary School, where two of her children attended.
Sewing and Millinery courses taken during Carrie's early school years influenced her love of sewing, and she became a skilled seamstress, designing clothing items for fashion shows, her children, husband, and others. Further, she provided instruction to those who shared her passion for fashion design and hosted 'hands-on' sessions. Carrie's God-given gifts and talents enabled her to secure employment at fabric retailers in Mountain View and Redwood City from 1973 until 1979, where she designed display garments, promoted the latest sewing machines, and assisted customers with various sewing and textile issues.
Carrie's hard-working husband desired to become an entrepreneur. He was blessed to discover many creative methods to provide for his family, one of which was his flair for the culinary arts. In 1978, Carrie discontinued her retail employment and supported her husband's dream of maintaining a restaurant establishment. She partnered with him at the Twin's Sandwich Shop, located at that time, in East Palo Alto. He retired in 1985, and Carrie resumed employment at retail establishments.
