Douglas Jon Hayes July 1, 1966 - September 22, 2020
Douglas Jon Hayes, 54, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 4:15 am September 22, 2020 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1966 in Decatur, Illinois to Edward Grover and Wilma J. (Rapp) Hayes. Douglas married Leslie Ann (Rutherford) Hayes on December 30, 1989 in Marlow, Illinois and she survives in Mount Vernon. In addition to his beloved wife, Douglas is survived by two children, Chanelle Hayes of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Charles E. Hayes of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Payten and Paxtyn; three brothers, Steve (special friend, Frances Heintz) Hayes, Harold McIntyre of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Jefferey Hayes of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Douglas was preceded in death by his father; grandson, Lucas Gehrig; and sister, Cindy White. Douglas worked as an electrician and lab manager for Nutherm International. He was a member of South Hickory Hill Christian Church and was a Ham Radio Operator in his free time. He is dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:30 am at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, IL with Pastor David Shores officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Douglas's honor to the Hayes family in the care of Leslie Hayes.
