Oriyo Okada, 82, of Honolulu, a retired seamstress, died Tuesday in Queen's Hospital. Born in Hiroshima, Japan. Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Konko Mission of Honolulu.

Oriyo Okada was the daughter of Hachiemon Okada and Kumayo Oda. Kumayo was the daughter of Hichizo Oda and Hatsuyo Ohama. Oriyo's father was the son of Motoemon Okada and Sao Nakanishi.
In 1920, Hachiemon visited Hiroshima. His ship's passenger list record shows that he visited his older brother, Motoenon Okada, who had moved back to Hiroshima from California. This brother, Motoenon Okada, was also a son of Motoemon Okada and Sao Nakanishi.
Oriyo Okada seems to have been the only child of Hachiemon Okada and Kumayo Oda. It is possible one of those parents had children before their marriage in Honolulu in 1912 as they were both listed as divorced. However, it does not seem likely considering that no record as as yet been found of such possible children.
Oriyo Okada does not seem to have ever been married, even though a few directory records listed her as "Mrs. Oriyo Okada."
