“Ronnie,” was born to Joseph Lee ("Joe L") Holt and Shirley Minto Holt. He was born and raised in Vivian, La. He graduated from North Caddo High School in 1969.

Funeral services were held at 10 am on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Walnut Hill Baptist Church in Vivian, LA, officiated by Rev. Joey Grappe. Burial followed at Walnut Hill Cemetery. There was a time of visitation on Thursday, September 24th at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian.

In his early years, one of his passions was competition power lifting where he achieved many awards and metals. His proudest moment was when he was awarded the NASA World Cup Championship in 1993, with a total weight lift of 1,745 lbs. His squat total was 605 lbs, bench press 405 lbs, and dead lift 735 lbs. He was a John Wayne enthusiast, enjoyed watching any old western, and collecting guns. He was also a Mason of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana.

Ronnie worked at Lone Star Steel for 20+ plus years, after the closing he then decided to pursue a career in law enforcement. He attended the police academy, and then began to work for the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office where he also retired from after 34 years of service on May 27, 2020. While employed with Caddo Sheriff’s office he started his career as a patrol officer, later became a search and rescue diver, then retired as a patrol staff support officer. Ronnie was a loving father, grandfather, friend, and devoted Christian he was also a long-time member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother Jimmy Walker. He is survived by his son Joseph Holt and Kayah Dumus of Bivins, Tx. His daughter Michelle Holt of Vivian, La. His sister Sandra Wornum from California. Dee and Pam Hughes of Mooringsport, La. He is also survived by grandchildren Paige Hilt and husband Charlie Hilt, Payton McCathran, Jocee Holt, Brody Holt, and Alaunah Lewis. Also, his great-grandchildren Slade and Stetson Hilt.

Pallbearers will be Dee Hughes, Charlie Hilt, Jared Vick, Jason Williamson, Todd Parker, and Cody Sowell. Honorary pallbearer Dr. Jeff Holt.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Holt for his continued support and exceptional care throughout Ronnie’s illness. We would also like to thank Heart of Hospice for their excellent care and kindness, and a special thank-you to Courtney Kite for going above and beyond for our family.
