Jan Spangler Young, 38, of Salem, died Sunday, March 21, 1993, in Lewis-Gale Hospital.

She was a longtime Salem resident, and was presently a student at Virginia Western Community College.

Survivors include her husband, C. David Young, two sons, Sean Russell Cuddy and Kiel Dickerson Gunter, one daughter, Michaela Ann Cuddy, and one stepdaughter, Ginny Lynn Young, all of Salem; her parents, C. Russell and Mary Ann Spangler, Moneta; three brothers, James Edward Spangler of Salem, Jon Scott Spangler of Roanoke, Timothy Witt Spangler of Richmond; and many close friends.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 1993, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. David N. Neal and the Rev. Jimmy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The City of Salem, Parks and Recreation Department, Youth Sports Program, 216 S. Broad Street, Salem. VA. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
