Robert Clinton ‘Hawkeye” Hawks, 81, of Martinsville passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Sovah Health of Martinsville.

He was born in Carroll County, Virginia, on September 28, 1938, to the late Joseph and Della Hall Hawks, and was retired from American Furniture Co. after 37 years.

Clinton was a hard worker, good provider who loved his two daughters.

Before his declining health, Clinton enjoyed weekend trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway, visiting the old home place, NASCAR racing, watching Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, and various other westerns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Everett Hawks.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Parikh, Dr. Clark, the 5th-floor staff of Sovah Health, and two special nurses, Faith Robertson and Julia Foley. Also would like to recognize the love and caregiving by Mountain Valley Hospice.

Surviving is two daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila H. (Robert) Lackey and Bettina Hawks; one brother, Billy Hawks; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 8, 2020, in the Roselawn Chapel Funeral Home with Director Kelly Ratcliff officiating; interment will be private.

The family will receive friends thirty minutes before services beginning at 1:30 PM.
