Wallace D. Beers Dies At Hospital

Wallace D. Beers, a resident of Hall county for more than forty years, passed away at the St. Francis hospital about two o'clock Saturday afternoon following a seven week's illness. Several weeks ago Mr. Beers suffered the amputation of a limb after a gangrenous condition developed from embolism. Later, the other libm was also amputated in an effort to relieve his condition, but to no avail. Suring his illness Mr. Beers bore his suffering with great patience and fortitude.

He was born in Emden, Ill., on January 10, 1869, and was 60 years and two days of age at the time of his death. At the age of 17 years he came with his parents to Nebraska, the family locating on a farm in Hall and Hamilton counties, south of this city, on which he has since resided. His marriage to Miss Nellie F. Denman took place on February 12, 1896. Mr. Beers had been an active member of the Methodist church and also took great interest in civic and economic affairs of the community. For over twenty years, he served on the school board of his district.

Surviving are the widow and three children, Zenas H., and Alfred L., and Mrs. Edna Liebsack; three sisters, Mrs. M. H. McDowell and Mrs. Charles Kesel, of Costa Mesa, Cal.; Mrs. Alfred Cleal, of Andrews, Neb.; two brothers, W. H. of Rippey, Ia., and Charles J. of Doniphan and two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the First Methodist church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with Rev. L. F. Townsend officiating, assisted by Rev. Paul M. Hillman, of Trinity M. E. church and Rev. Kellogg, pastor of the Methodist church at Doniphan. . . A brief service for the immediate family was conducted at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jake Liebsack, 339 South Oak street at 1:30 p.m. . . . The remains were laid to rest in Cedar View cemetery, Doniphan.
