Miss Maude Abernathy, 58, who resided at Doniphan, died at 7:15 o'clock this morning at a local hospital. She had been ill for the past year. She is a former operator of the Paine apartments in Grand Island. She was born Apr. 10, 1886, at Murray, Ia., the daughter of Charles and Addie Abernathy. She was a member of the Methodist church and taught music in Omaha for more than 20 years.
Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Addie Abernathy, Doniphan, two sisters, Mrs. Nina Morgan and Mrs. Veda Logan, both of Grand Island, three brothers, Forrest G. Abernathy, Los Angeles, Cal., Ralph E. Abernathy, Las Vegas, Neb., and Alva B. Abernathy, Wheaton, Minn., and other relatives. Her father died Dec. 6, 1941. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending word from relatives. The body is at the Geddes funeral home.
