With profound sadness we announce the passing of our father, Donald Wayne Cunningham, 89, of DeSoto, Texas. Dad passed away at his home on September 18, 2020, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to all that knew and loved him. He was born on April 8, 1931, to Carnace and Zelma Cunningham.
On October 10, 1952, Don married the love of his life, Patsy Hanson. In just a few weeks they would have celebrated 68 wonderful years together.
Don is survived by son Jerry Cunningham and wife Donna of Bennett, Colorado: daughter Kim Cunningham Simmons and husband Vance of DeSoto, Texas: granddaughters Angi Cunningham Mudd and husband Doug, Ashley Cunningham Smith and husband Vernon, grandson Justin Simmons and wife Jenny; and 5 great grandchildren Bryson Smith, Bryahna Smith, Brooklynn Smith, Jack Mudd, and Grace Mudd.
While Don really enjoyed spending time with Pat in Las Vegas, there was not anything more important to him than spending time with his family.
Don retired from the defense industry as a quality inspector.
A graveside service will be held at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 1:15 pm.
