James Gaylon Rowland age 84 passed away September 19, 2020 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

He was born November 15, 1935 in Hornsby, TN the son of the late James Curtis and Velma Lee Capps Rowland. He grew up in Chester County. He became a mechanic and worked in maintenance at Chickasaw State Park for thirty years, retiring in 2007. He attended the Palestine Baptist Church.
He married Martha Sue Flatt on November 22, 1969. They made their home in Bethel Springs, in Chester County.

He enjoyed gardening, car shows and working on old cars. He especially loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

Mr. Rowland is survived by his wife, Sue Flatt Rowland of Bethel Springs; a daughter, Alesha Wallis (Jason) of Bethel Springs; two grandchildren, Alyssa Crouse (Adam) and Nicholas Wallis and two great grandchildren, Julianna Crouse and Myles Crouse; two brothers, Jackie Rowland (Linda) and Ronnie Rowland (Glenda) all of Bethel Springs and a sister, Verbaleen Burkeens of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bud Rowland and Lloyd Rowland and a sister, Joan Rowland.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors - Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Anthony Rowland officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine Cemetery in Chester County.
