He attended Walton High School, Marietta. He lived the majority of his life within the Cobb and Paulding area. He worked for 20 years in the concrete industry for Blue Circle, Lafarge and Argo. He helped to construct numerous projects in the Atlanta area including the Georgia Aquarium and the new WellStar Paulding Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Cherry* of Marietta, GA; grandparents, Anson and Ruth Rabenaldt, and Charles and Claudia Cherry. He is survived by his mother, Karen Rabenaldt Cherry and her partner, James Houze of Marietta, GA; children, Jodi Simonelli and her husband, AJ of Miami, FL, and William Anson Cherry of Dallas, GA; brother, Ron Cherry and wife, Chandra of Roswell, GA; and three grandsons, Garrett, Jase and Raylan.

"Chief of Police William A. Cherry Cherry, 32, of 4936 Roswell Road NE, Marietta, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, burial in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Mr. Cherry, a data processing manager for the City of Marietta, died Friday following a heart attack. He had attended the University of Georgia and coached Little League baseball in East Marietta. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Karen Rabenaldt Cherry; sons, Curtis Cherry and Ron Cherry, all of Marietta; mother, Mrs. Claudia Peigh of Seaford, Del., and brothers, Keith Cherry of Marietta and Don Cherry of Seaford." - From the AJC, 10 Feb 1973.
