Dolores Del McKinney, 82, of Petersburg, died at 10:37 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center.

Dolores was born July 8, 1938, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Anton and Opal Davis Schaefer. She married John McKinney on April 6, 1957, in Petersburg; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her dog, Molly.

Dolores graduated from Petersburg High School and was employed as a graphic design artist for Marshall Mitchell Studio. She also previously worked for Metal Décor as an artist. Dolores was a devout Democrat and loved drawing, reading, and her Scottish Terrier, Molly.

Dolores is survived by her son, Shawn McKinney of Petersburg; daughter, Heather (Mike) Hall of Edinburg; and grandchildren, Kylie and Jace McKinney and Ashleigh (Jake) Carter.

Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society, Springfield, IL.

The family will host a graveside ceremony at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg at a later date.
