Tyrone was one of the most senior and decorated officers of the Miami-Dade Police Department in Miami, Florida. He was most recently a Captain in the Sheriff's department when he died.

Tyrone loved to play football in the streets with all his neighborhood friends while growing up. He and his brother Craig played football and baseball at Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School where he graduated in 1979. He later played at Missouri Valley, an NAIA program, then transferred to Florida A&M, where he played for one year. He was a wide receiver and tight end.

Tyrone's younger brother, Craig White, played football at Minnesota, earning letters in 1982 and '83.

Back when Tyrone was still a young cop in the mid 1980s, he was assigned as a resource officer at Norland High School in Miami, Florida.

He helped coach the Optimist youth football team his son James White, NFL's New England Patriots running back, played on while growing up in Florida.
