Death of Old Resident - The death occurred at his late residence Scott St., Ayr, on Monday Dec. 22nd, at 10 o'clock a.m. of Peter McRae, an old and highly esteemed resident of this village, in his 71st year. Deceased had been ill for over a year with paralysis being taken with a stroke on July 1st, 1912, and with a second one about four weeks ago, from the effects of which he never recovered gradually sinking until his death. Deceased was born in the north of Scotland and came to this country when a lad, settling with his parents near Glenmorris. About 35 years ago he removed to Ayr where he had lived ever since. He was married in 1868 to Ellen Esmond who lived near Galt and who survives him. In religion he was a Presbyterian, being a faithful member of Stanley St. church and in politics, a staunch Liberal. Besides his sorrowing widow, he leaves to mourn him, three daughters and two sons: Jessie, Ayr, Bella and Margaret, Toronto, Robert, Ayr and Norman, Toronto. The funeral took place from his late residence Scott St. on Wednesday Dec. 24th at 2: 30 p.m. to Ayr cemetery, the service being conducted by Rev. D. I. Ellison, pastor of Stanley st. church. The following gentlemen acted as pallbearers: Messrs. Thos. Hall, Robt. Morton, J. K. Rutherford, Wm. Richmond, Jas. Richardson and C. K. Morton.
