A graveside service for Patsy “Pat” Jean Cook, 91, of Athens, formerly of Tyler and Galveston, will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tyler with Rev. Richard Luna officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cook passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2020, in Athens. She was born March 17, 1929 in Tyler to Samuel Fred and Dorothy McKibbin Steed.

Pat taught 10th and 12th grade English Literature at Van High School in the late 1960s, followed by English and World Literature at Tyler Junior College in the adult education night school.

She moved to Galveston, Texas, after she retired from teaching and lived there until 2019. She enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shells, and swimming and playing in the water with her grandchildren. She attended West Isle Presbyterian Church. In 2019 she moved to Country Place Senior Living in Athens.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Dorothy Steed and her brother Don Steed. She is survived by her loving family including her children Cari, Wayne, David, and Glen, her sister-in-law Lannette Steed, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
