Gayla Lou Parker, age 85, passed away in her home Monday, May 11, 2015. Gayla is survived by five of her six children, Gay (Johnie) Stockton, Douglas (Linda) Parker, Jan Carlson, Donna Parker and Keith Parker. Also surviving are her eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren as well as her siblings Richard (Pat) Gilchrist, Rosemarie Drayton, Edward Michael (Katherine) Gilchrist, her Uncle Jerry Everitt and Aunt Alice Withers. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald and their son Fred. Gayla enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, loved her gardening and the Detroit Tigers and was at one time an avid water skier. A funeral service for Gayla is scheduled to take place at Reyers North Valley Chapel on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at 12 PM. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 15 from 5-8 PM and again on Saturday for one hour prior to the time of the funeral service. Funeral home said burial was to be at Highland View, but it was changed to a creation. Remains given to the family. No record at Highland View Cemetery in Big Rapids of her burial where her son, Fred, is buried.
