Tulia, Texas—Linda Johnston, 79, of Seagraves, formerly of Tulia, died on Friday, September 18, 2020. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, September 24, 2020 in the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves with Rev. Gary Mclendon, and Rev. L.D. Hinson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 25, 2020 in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2020 from 10:00 am until service time at the church in Seagraves. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Linda was born on September 3, 1941 in Dublin, Texas to Walter Leroy and Helen Virginia Sonnamaker. She graduated from Tulia High School in 1960. She married Ray Johnston on July 14, 1961. They lived in several places on the South Plains until they retired in 2000 and moved to Seagraves. She was a lifelong member of the Assembly of God Church and was presently a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves. She was a stay at home mom raising three kids. She was an amazing cook and won several awards at the South Plains Fair for her cooking and won 2 best of show awards. She was active in her church where she loved to sing and pray. She had a special relationship with Jesus Christ and was a prayer warrior all her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Johnston of Seagraves, two sons: Eddie Johnston and wife Julie of Alvin, TX, and Ronald Johnston and wife Levita of Amarillo, TX, one daughter: Monetta Barron and husband Bobby of Seagraves, one sister: Gloria Stidham of Brownsboro, TX, one brother: Larry Sonnamaker and wife Karen of Downers Grove, Illinois and five grandchildren: Rachel Johnston of San Antonio, Lyndsay Johnston of Amarillo, Landon Johnston of Amarillo, Valerie Juliao and husband Conrad of Lubbock and Seth Barron and wife Kelsey of Seagraves.
