Jolene Hinton King
June 14, 1930 - September 16, 2020

Jolene Hinton King, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her daughter's home on September 16, 2020.

The youngest of eleven children, she was the born to William Marion and Ella Mae (Nee: Givens) Hinton on June 14, 1930 in Bridges, Missouri. In 1951, Jolene married Chauncey Wendell "C.W." King in Memphis, TN. They were married 47 years at the time C.W.'s death in 1998.

She is remembered as a Godly woman who was loved by everyone who met her. Jolene was well studied in scripture and served as the spiritual guide for her children and grandchildren. As a young woman, Jolene worked at the telephone office in Charleston, MO. She often fondly recalled those days and cherished the friendships she developed while there, some of which continued throughout her lifetime. After her marriage to C.W., Jolene became a mother and homemaker. She volunteered at churches, schools, nursing homes as well as countless other organizations. She was a well-loved Sunday school teacher and continued to receive cards from the children's classes until the time of her death. Jolene was an excellent seamstress and home project engineer. In the years after her husband's death, she began a pursuit she had long desired to do, research her family genealogy. Over time she added 3,000 names to her family tree and met several relatives she never knew existed. Jolene was always busy and willing to help.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Penny Sue King, her son, Timothy Wayne King and her siblings Lillian Smithers, Robert Francis Hinton, Elsie Marie Roy, Jewell Earl Hinton, Paul Leslie Hinton, Carmen Catherine Hicks, John William "J.W." Hinton, T.S. Hinton and Imogene Francis.

Jolene leaves behind her children Mary Elizabeth (Gary) Thomas, Chauncey Wendell Jr. "Bud" and Stephen Eric (Jeannine) grandchildren: Lesley (Jason) Taylor, Christopher King, Melonie (Douglas) Baugh, Matthew (Jessie) King, Brianne (Derek) Minard and Tyler King. Great-grandchildren, Ryley Baugh, Rory King, Chance Baugh, Levi Thomas-Taylor, Pennington King, Everly King and Presley Minard; special nephews Gary B. Layton family of Joliet, Illinois and Dan W. Hinton family of Sikeston, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in honor of Jolene to The Parkinson's Foundation at www.parkinson.org
