Lena was the daughter of Pe­ter and Kirsten Rassmussen. She married Nels Knack on March 6, 1896 in Sac County, IA. They were the parents of 4 children: a daughter, who died in infancy, and three sons, Chris, Adolph and Elvin.

The Newell Mirror - Thursday, January 3, 1952 - Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at Nain Lutheran church for Mrs. Nels Knack, longtime resident of this community. The Rev Ronald Jespersen officiated. A quartette composed of Mrs Ivan Grau, Mrs Harold Thuesen, Mrs LeRoy Knoll and Mrs. Alfred Christensen sang "Lord, I'm Coming Home," and the congregation sang two songs. Mrs. Axel Johansen presided at the organ. Pall bearers were Clarence Bodholdt, Albert Bodholdt, Chris Krog, cousins of the deceased, and a brother-in-law Dan McNab, and Halvor Bak. Interment was in the Newell cemetery.

Obituary - Olena Christina Knack was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 15, 1875. She was the eldest of eleven children born to Peter and Kirsten Rassmussen. With her parents she came to Iowa when a young girl. They lived in Wright county for a time before locating in Sac county.

Here she was married to Niels J. Knack on March 6, 1896. To them were born four children, a daughter, who died in infancy, and three sons, Chris, Adolph and Elvin. Mr and Mrs Knack made their home in Grant township from the time of their marriage until 1941 when they left the farm and moved into Newell. They celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary last March.

Mr Knack went to Oakdale, Iowa in September for treatment and is still a patient there. Mrs.
Knack became ill a few weeks ago and was taken to the home of her son, Adolph and then to
the home of her son Elvin. Her condition became worse and on December 24 she was taken to
the Buena Vista County Hospital where she quietly entered eternal sleep shortly after six o'clock Friday morning, December 28, 1951. Mrs. Knack was seventy six years old.

Two sisters, Mrs Alma Schuch? and a girl preceded her in death.

To mourn her passing in addition to her husband, her three sons, Chris of Varina, Iowa, Adolph and Elvin of Newell, Iowa, three granddaughters: LeDonna, Connie and Janet , three sisters, five brothers and many other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends who attended the services from out of town were: Mr and Mrs Dan McNab of Albert Lea, Minn, Mr and Mrs Floyd Smith and family of Worthington, Minn; Mr and Mrs Ira Smith and family of Grofton; Mr and Mrs Julius Henningson of Cedar Falls; Mr and Mrs Linn Wilde of Fonda; The Rev. Clifford Ott. Mr and Mrs. Kenneth Wiggins. Mr Ott Puenz, Mr Francis Krebs, Mr and Mrs Ine Krogstad, Mrs August Blado all of Varina; Mr and Mrs Herb Hammer of Pocahontas; Mr and Mrs Alfred Johnson of Ulmer.
