Erma Mae 'Bowie' Brown, 77, of Amarillo, Texas went to her heavenly home on September 9, 2020.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at St. John Baptist Church, located at 2301 NW 14th Street in Amarillo, officiating Pastor Anthony Harris. Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m. in Borger at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Erma was born on August 4, 1943 in Borger, Texas. She attended Booker T Washington school. After her love of God and her family, Erma loved basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. She was a great basketball player and was on the girls' varsity basketball team when she was in the 5th grade. After the passing of her husband, Johnnie 'Ted' Brown, she took upon the sole parental responsibility of raising 7 children.

She was always a supportive sports mom and in her later years traveled many places to watch her grandkids play basketball as well. She was a gift to her community. She was a pillar to her Borger community and would do anything in her power to help her fellow neighbors. She never met a stranger and could sit and talk to anyone and made them feel as a part of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie & Lee Bowie and Jesse Webb; her beloved husband, Johnnie 'Ted' Brown; her son, Stanley Davis; and siblings, Verdel, Eddie Mae, Mary, Vera, William, Vernell, Larry, and Jimmie.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, William Davis and wife, Diane, Rickey Davis and wife, Mary, Sylvia Davis, Johnny Davis and wife, Monica, Muriel Tinner and husband, Ronnie, Marva Washington and husband, Jeff; siblings, Mattie King, Maggie Johnson, and Harry Bowie. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
