George McDaniel, Sr., age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Graham, Texas, with Jeff Darden, Branch President of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
George was born on May 9, 1935 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Willie McDaniel and Roxie (Bittle) McDaniel. He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for four years. He married Shirley Marie Sieling on August 3, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Olney in 2003. George was a gun enthusiast and enjoyed working with his guns. He liked to be outdoors, loved fishing, gardening and working on the farm and truly loved his animals. George was a dairyman until his retirement. He always tried to find a way to better himself and his family, and was a patient man. George enjoyed going to his church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, George Bittle “Rusty” McDaniel, Jr.; and a brother, Joe McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley McDaniel of Olney, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Bill Herrin of Surprise, Arizona; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Cyndi and Mike Torgersen of Mesa, Arizona; one step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Reed and Kathleen Rugg of Utah; one brother, Don McDaniel of Springtown, Texas; one sister and brother-in-law, Marion and David McMurrin of Salt Lake City, Utah; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
